英语中考话题作文教学效果的分析与思考

摘 要:英语话题作文写作是初中学生必须掌握并能灵活运用的能力之一。然而,由于话题作文难以下手,学生在写作时往往思维混乱,前言不搭后语,导致难以达到理想的写作目标。鉴于此,本文着重探讨教师如何引导学生去解读话题作文,把握话题作文的写作框架和写作思路,从而提高话题作文的教学效果。

英语写作是初中学生必须掌握的语言技能之一,是初中英语教学强调的一个核心技能,是听、说、读语言技能的重要组成部分,而话题作文又是中考作文中常考的一种题材。在实际教学中,学生的话题写作状况并不乐观,许多学生由于词汇贫乏和语法障碍,因而只能写出“中式英语”的文章,得分很低,从而使学生对写作产生了恐惧心理。面对这种现象,教师必须给予足够的重视。笔者认为,在短期内迅速提升初三学生英语话题作文的写作水平是完全可行的,但必须做到以下几点。

一、多样化话题导入要挖掘学生内驱力

话题的选择直接关系到学生的喜好程度。其中,新颖多样的话题更能吸引学生的目光,更能集中学生的注意力。由此可见,教师在选择话题时,需要考虑到初中学生的身心发展,选择能抓住学生眼球的典型话题,促进学生主动去阅读话题、揣摩话题和领悟话题,从而挖掘学生的学习潜能,激发学生的学习兴趣,调动学生的学习积极性和主动性,充分发挥学生的主体作用,更便于满足学生所表现出来的浓厚的学习欲望。比如:在话题“Teenage problems”中,有“Different problems”和“What should I do”两个子话题,为了让学生主动开口“Talk about problems and their causes”。我首先用中文对学生说:“我最近遇到了一些问题,你们根据我的描述猜猜看我有哪些烦恼”?学生一听兴奋地两眼发光,纷纷催促快点开始。于是我继续说:“I have had a lot of food lately”,学生立马说:“Worry about getting fat”。“It takes a long night to get to sleep”我继续说道。学生抢先答:“Sleepless”。然后我对学生说:“为了公平起见,你们也应该告诉老师你们的烦恼的原因吧”!话音刚落,就有学生回答:“I dont have enough time to do homework”。在他的带动下,其他学生也开始用英语表达困恼自己的问题。通过本节课的教学,学生参与话题作文的讨论积极性得到了很大的提高,学生全部参与在研讨之中,学会并掌握了本节课的英语知识,而且提高了他们听说能力。

二、写作技巧要以提升学生的写作水平为主

在英语话题写作指导过程中,教师不仅需要给学生灌输写作理论知识,而且还要懂得适时地传授一些写作技巧。这样可以将不同时空、不同角度的材料组合成为绚丽多彩的文章大厦。同时学生可以将所获得的话题写作技巧迁移到其他题材的作文中去,培养他们的写作灵感以及举一反三的能力。换言之,丰富多彩、灵活多变的写作技巧更能培养学生的创新思维,激励他们进行自主创作,从而可以提高学生的写作水平。比如:在话题“Know yourself”中,我给学生设计了一系列问题:1.What is you personality? 2.What is you appearance? 3.What sport do you like? 4.What food do you like? 5.What is you dreams? 6.What food do you like?然后讓学生围绕这几个问题设计英语对话,在对话过程中,学生可以加入自己的创意,这给学生提供了很大的创作空间,他们准备对话的热情很高。其中有的学生把对话情境设置在餐厅中,根据双方对菜肴的喜好去展开对话;还有的学生则把对话情境设置在旅游途中,表演得很是生动。在完成对话之后,学生很清楚地知道如何去创设情境以及书写这一话题。在本节课的教学中,学生在表演对话中,身临其境,情不自禁地根据当时情景,进行交流研讨,不仅熟练地掌握了句型和语法,而且还增强了写作信心,从而提高了写作水平。

三、现场写作运用促进科学合理评价的建构

教师科学、合理的评价是激发学生学习内驱力的重要“催化剂”。对于初中学生而言,由于他们正在逐步形成强烈的成人意识,希望得到成人的赞赏和认可,尤其希望得到教师的客观评价。因此,初中英语教师在进行话题写作教学时,应该重视学生的这一心理,以便在课堂写作评价中让学生意识到自身的不足,并乐于去弥补这种不足,从而让学生的写作水平得到良好的发展。比如:话题“Films”中的子话题“Using so... that and such... that...”,我在课堂上仔细讲解了这一语法知识,并且还区分了这两种句型的区别,同时例举了大量的句子来让学生体验两种句型,在讲完语法理论知识之后,为了让学生在写作时可以熟练运用该句型,我给学生当堂布置了写作任务“介绍三种水果”,并要求运用上述句型,十五分钟完成并上交,然后我迅速浏览了一下,挑选出学生所犯的相似的句法和语法错误,并对文章结构进行一一点评,让学生及时了解自己的写作缺点。本节课的学习,不仅培养了学生灵活运用所学知识的能力,而且通过这样的评价还能快速地帮助学生解决话题作文写作中存在的问题,建立正确的概念,从而形成科学的学习评价观。

总之,教师在教学时,首先要采用有效的教学方法帮助学生克服畏难心理,使学生对话题产生兴趣和爱好;然后让学生熟悉并掌握话题作文的写作逻辑;最后鼓励学生积极练习话题写作,并不断地总结相应的话题写作经验和心得,从而让学生的话题写作水平得到质的提升,为其在英语中考中获得理想的英语成绩奠定良好的基础。

近年来,话题作文因其不限制文体或尽量减少文体的限制、给学生以更多选择自由的特点,受到广大师生的青睐。但由于其具有开放性,如果不进行规范性的训练,又难以写好话题作文。因此,在作文教学中,笔者进行了针对性的话题作文层级训练,即基础训练和创新训练。

一、基础训练

1 训练学生审题

话题作文不在审题上设置障碍,只规定了一个写作范围,虽降低了审题难度,但也导致了一些学生不认真审题,偏离题意,“一着不慎,全盘皆输”,导致作文失败。因此,写好话题作文的关键是审准题。

首先,教师要指导学生审清要写的话题及其内涵、范围,弄明白题引的作用。一般来说,作文试题有引出话题的一段话或几段话、指定要写的话题和具体的写作要求三部分组成。要指导学生弄清这三者,其中最主要的是要看清所写的话题,审清它的内涵和范围。

其次,指导学生审清具体的写作要求。话题作文试题的要求既有其开放性,也有其限制性。因此,在作文训练中,要指导学生明确其具体要求,掌握其开放性和限制性。

2 训练学生拟题

话题作文要求学生根据话题和题引自拟题目,而题目是文章的眼睛,题好一半功,能拟出好题目,对于写好作文起着举足轻重的作用。在训练学生拟题时,最基本的要求是准确,即能准确地体现或揭示文章写作内容、中心。如以“成长”为话头,可拟题为“在磨难中,我变成了蝶”、“自然,助我成长”、“风雨中,我找到了幸福”等。

3 训练学生的谋篇布局

话题作文的一般结构模式:(1)话题入笔-联想事例-感悟收尾;(2)点明话题-典型事例-回扣话题;(3)叙写事例-导入话题-阐明主旨。在构思中不可偏移或游离作文的“话题”,要自始至终围绕“话题”作文,紧扣话题谋篇,做到“情”随话题“抒”,“景”随话题“写”,“事”随话题“叙”,“意”随话题“生”。

4 训练学生综合运用各种表达方式

在话题写作中,应着重指导学生利用描写将记叙文写得生动形象,将景物描写得生动逼真;利用抒情,进行恰当的抒情;利用议论,画龙点睛,并学会提出问题、分析问题、解决问题。只有综合运用各种表达方式,作文才能生动感人。

二、创新训练

1 拟题的创新训练

题目是吸引他人(主要是阅卷老师)的眼球的第一道风景,也是自己作文的题眼所在。要使这道风景线亮丽起来,拟题训练不可或缺。下面以个人的经验谈谈话题作文运用修辞拟题的一些策略。

首先,指导学生运用比喻拟题,能使标题新颖。这种方法要求学生进行广泛的联想,同时做到贴切、通俗、形象。如以“选择”为话题,有的学生拟题为“单项选择”,用“单项选择”这种题型来比喻他选择的唯一性——如果有来生,仍然选择现在的家,因为这里有爱他的父母。

其次,指导学生运用拟人拟题。用拟人方法拟题,将题目赋予人的思想感情,从而收到由此及彼、生动形象的艺术效果。如以“表扬与批评”为话题,有的学生拟题为“表扬与批评比功劳”。以“环保”为话题,有的拟题为“小鸟在哭泣”。

此外,还可以指导学生运用引用、双关、反语、借代、设问等修辞拟题,让标题有新意。

2 立意的创新训练

好文章贵在“言人未能言,发人未能发”,能触及新问题,发表新观点的文章才更有价值。那么,平时写作训练要注意哪些策略呢?

(1)立意要避“俗”。你瞧,一写蜡烛,老师们就像蜡烛,照亮了别人,燃烧了自己;一写蜜蜂,劳动人民就像蜜蜂,得到的少,付出的多;一写荷花,就是“出淤泥而不染,濯清涟而不妖”……这些几乎成了通用公式,诸不知都落入了“俗”套。而立意真正要有新意,就要讲究避“俗”策略。在平时训练写作过程中,教师要悉心指导学生尽量不要走“俗”路,努力开辟出一条“新”路来。如一篇以“老师”为话题的作文,绝大多数学生都在讴歌老师的伟大和无私,而一学生以《流泪的红蜡烛》刻画了一位老师忙碌于生意场、醉心于赚钱的场面,敏锐地表现了市场经济中少数老师的心态,在众多的习作中独树一帜。

(2)立意要有求“异”思维。求异思维无疑是一种可贵的思维品质,它常常会开出特别艳丽的花朵。比如:根据“近墨者黑”翻出“近墨者未必黑”,根据“知足者常乐”翻出“不知足者常乐”,还有根据“不必班门弄斧”翻出“弄斧需到班门”等等,都是求异的奇葩。因此,平时的作文训练不能一味求同,也应让“异”发发光彩。

3 选材的创新训练

学生作文为什么会出现众多雷同的现象?这与学生作文时的思维定势有着密切的关系。例如:一篇以“母亲”为话题的作文,大多数学生不是写自己的母亲雨中送伞、衣服、书籍之类,就是写自己生病时母亲背自己去医院等,所以就导致了前面所说的“碰壁”现象。那么,教师可以启发学生从妈妈的性格、脾气、品德、才能、爱好等方面进行选材,把妈妈的个性写出来。为什么我们对国产电视剧《亮剑》中的李云龙师长记忆犹新,就是因为该电视剧生动刻画了李云龙这个人物的鲜明个性。因此,在指导学生写作时,要引导学生冲破思维定势的束缚,学会多角度选材,从小处切入,将鲜活的社会生活和时代话题写进作文里,使自己的作文“出人头地”。

4 形式的创新训练

巧妙的形式可以让人耳目一新,作文形式的创新即鼓励学生大胆创新,张扬个性,提倡“真实的体验、创新的表达”。新观念、新形式、新情感、新想象、新语言成了衡量佳作的新标准。那么如何创新?这是我们每一位初中语文老师和每一位初中学生关心的问题。在训练中,教师应指导学生学会运用书信、日记、演讲、问答录、会议记录、审判记录等丰富多彩的样式写作,进行文体杂文的训练。形式是为内容服务的,如单纯追求形式创新,而没有充实而鲜活的内容,那就只有花架子了。所以,我们在设法形式创新的同时,作文内容上的厚实,并真实再现生活,抒写自己的真情实感,这些则又是决定一篇话题作文成败的关键!

5 语言的创新训练

如果说思想是文章的灵魂,那么语言便是衣裳。如果能给思想披上一身漂亮的外衣,那么它便会魅力倍增。下面,结合一些实例,介绍三种使语言亮丽的方法:

(1)仿拟改编法。仿拟改编就是把一些诗词、歌曲、名言等进行改换,以取得耳目一新的表达效果。如“作业最多的人是我,书包最重的人是我,休息最少的人是我,挨骂最多的人是我……‘十一’没自由的人是我,放假被禁闭的人是我,是我是我还是我……”(摘自学生习作《补课》)

(2)词语移用法。词语移用就是把惯用于甲事物的词语临时用来说明或形容乙事物,从而取得一种错位的美。如“不买,冰箱耗电,再说这几天家里出现了经济危机,以后再说。当惯了‘皇帝’的母亲‘圣旨’一下,便准备‘拂袖退朝’。我们三个哪里肯依,爸爸和我轮流‘奏本’,妹妹也揪着妈妈的裤腿‘拼死苦谏’也许是众怒难犯吧,母亲勉强答应了。”(摘自学生习作《我爱我家》

(3)巧用修辞。比喻能化抽象为具体,拟人能使动植物具有人的灵气,夸张能使灵气飞扬,设问能使人深思……修辞好比语言百花园中艳丽的花朵,如果能在文章中适当地插上几枝,定会为我们的文章增添几分亮丽的色彩。

话题作文水平的提高不是一蹴而就的,要让学生考场作文出彩,还应注意平时各种关键性训练,只要有计划地、有针对性地、有目的地进行重点训练,先分解后整合,才可能求得写作能力的提高,获取话题作文的优异成绩。

【摘要】话题式复习教学以话题为主线,围绕课程目标,并结合学情和教材特点进行立体、综合的教学设计与开发。在课堂教学中,采用任务型语言教学模式,兼顾交际功能和语言知识结构的学习,从而提高学生的听说读写能力。本文从英语话题式复习的基本内涵入手,根据《新目标Go for it》教材的话题编排结构,重组话题。然后以话题为主线,以学生的长远发展为目标,科学选用教学方法,精心设计教学过程,进行有效的初三复习教学。并对话题式复习教学实施中应注意的问题提出几点反思,探讨如何创建一种真正激发学生的学习兴趣、关注学生的进步和发展的有效复习方式。

一、问题的提出

随着中考越来越注重考查学生英语综合语言运用能力,传统的复习方法存在一些局限性,导致学生复习效果差,对英语课不感兴趣。同时在复习过程中,学生学习心态往往较为疲惫。针对目前中考复习课的现状,笔者发现在中考英语复习课堂中出现了如下的问题:1.知识的巩固以重复为途径,教学方式缺乏创意,只是一味的炒夹生饭。2.复习主要是以PPT的形式和习题的形式呈现,缺乏趣味性。3.课堂教学的设计往往不能达到综合的技巧,将英语的听说读写进行了分解,复习不够全面。4.教师以课本内容为依据,缺乏针对性,忽略了学生学习的实际效果。初三英语复习教学是提升学生综合语言运用能力的关键。面对当前传统复习课中存在的诸多问题,结合自己的教学经历,做了如下反思:一方面要积极改进复习方法,进一步提高学生学习的积极性,满足他们的心理需求;另一方面要对复习内容做积极处理,调整复习思路。《英语课程标准》中的“任务型”语言教学途径也提出,要创设真实的情景,让学生在这真实的情景中进行真实的语言交际实践活动。初中英语教学中,每个单元都有相关的一个话题,师生围绕话题进行语言技能训练,可避免语言学习的空洞和单调,同时也可以充分体现语言使用性功能。受以上这些方面的启示,笔者认为以话题为主线,整合教材内容进行复习,学生可以建立不同单元相同话题知识间的联系,这样有利于学生完善知识结构,发展综合语言运用能力,提高复习效率。例如,在复习交际用语时,通过整合初中三年的问路话题,复习课变成了一节语言实践课。在真实的情景中,学生的兴趣被大大地激发,他们十分快乐主动地复习了知识,接受了信息,加工了信息,交流了信息,学生的主体作用得到了很好的发挥。

二、话题式复习模式的基本内涵和教学流程

(一)话题复习模式的基本内涵

话题复习模式就是在初中英语复习阶段,教师引领学生将全部初中英语教材中的教学模块归类到《课程标准》要求的24个基本话题下,以话题为牵引,将本课要复习的语法内容有机地融入其中,进行听说读写各项语言技能的训练。归纳话题下的常用词汇,提炼话题下的功能句子,积累话题下的典型句式,梳理话题下的主要语法,训练话题下的书面表达,以清晰的教学思路系统归纳初中阶段所学内容,形成完整的知识网络和框架,提高复习教学效率。在话题式复习的课堂教学中,话题词汇和句型贯穿整个课堂,并且以技能训练为主,适量进行有关的语法项目的归纳和点拨,再配合少而精的训练题,取得良好的复习效果。这种方法能让学生在头脑里有一个清晰的语法知识结构,体现了学生自主学习和合作学习策略的培养,也有利于学生真正得到语言的运用,这也就是话题式复习课之所以更适应新课标环境下的英语中考复习课堂的原因。

(二)话题复习模式的教学流程

话题复习模式是在遵循英语教学基本规律的基础上,采用“同类归纳”方法,围绕话题对初中各年级学习内容进行“同类聚合”的教学整合。教师按照“创设话题情景——归类基本词汇及句型——梳理基本语法——训练中考题型”的流程,结合听说读写四个技能的综合训练进行课堂教学,从而全面提高学生的语言综合运用能力。

1.研究教材,创设话题情景

以课程标准的话题项目表为依据,对初中阶段的所有内容进行重新组合,确定出24个话题项目,每一话题为一章,每章中的内容可能分布在不同年级的教材中,所涉及的话题内容是基本相同的。如有关“学校生活”的话题内容分布在七年级上Unit 10 Can you play the guitar?,八年级上Unit8 How was your school trip?,八年级下Unit4 He said I was hard-working.,九年级Unit1 How do you study for a test?。有关“旅游和交通”,它的内容分布在九年级unit7 Where would you like to visit?,八年级上unit 3 What are you doing for vacation?,八年级下unit 9 Have you ever been to an amusement park? 等。

2.根据话题,归类基本词汇及句型

教师要注意宏观备课,根据话题寻找有用的相关单词、词组和表达。根据语言学家Michael Lewis的词块分类法,将词块进行梳理、整合,把同一话题下的语块组合成话题“词典”。这样,原本孤立的词语统摄在话题语义场中,词与词之间有了意义联系,构成语义网络系统。在语言运用中,无论是听说还是读写,一旦话题被激活,话题词块的意义联系随即接通,词语的检索和提取将非常迅速。例如在教学“学校生活”这一话题时,我根据教材的内容和教学大纲,归纳出了以下词汇和句型。

词汇:

Chinese,math,chemistry,art,computer,geography,classmates,classroom,

copy,dictionary,playground,homework,text,library, fail, exam, college, exercise,…

句型:

I am good at English.

I am getting well with my classmates.

We learn many subjects at school.

I think interest is the most important in learning English.

Our teachers are very kind to us.

I like to do sports after school.

Many students complain that homework is boring, because they have to do the same things again and again.

Students have to review what they have learnt in class in order to do their homework.

3.谈论话题,梳理基本语法

以话题为载体,创设和利用交际或篇章情景,为学生提供运用语言的真实环境,将语法复习与听说读写技能融为一体,一改传统语法教学“只重视语言形式,而忽视语言意义”的做法,既有利于学生梳理所学的语法知识,又有利于提高学生运用语法的能力,使学生真正学会“运用语言”。例如,在教学九年级unit 1时,教材中出现了大量的带有动名词、不定式的句子,如I learn English by making flashcards. Joining the English club at school was the best way to improve her English. Why don’t you join an English club to practice speaking English? 等等。这些句子又在话题里被经常使用,教师适时地复习归纳非谓语的用法,有助于学生正确表达。这种以话题为主线的语法训练,一方面,学生容易理解,能把已学的东西留在记忆中,并把所学知识反映出来;另一方面,可以有效减轻学生的学习负担,使记忆处于一种自然常态之中。

4.结合话题,训练中考题型。

以话题为载体,结合考试大纲,编设中考的各类题型。例如呈现一篇看图短文填空,利用话题总结复习的词汇来填空,既有利于落实巩固词汇,另一方面,新的文本的输入可以扩大学生的阅读面和知识信息量,使学生有获取新知的新鲜感,从而提高阅读技巧。另外,教师还可以结合话题进行写作训练,将学生的口头训练落实到写,能切实提高学生的书面表达能力。首先,教师有目的地将话题的框架写在黑板上,针对话题要点的每一点进行提问,引导学生说出与话题相关的表达,多问几个学生,鼓励他们说出不一样的答案(由于在写作环节之前已经对这个话题的词汇和句型进行了系统的复习,也就是为写作提供了基础,因此学生在课堂上都会积极地发言)。然后,让学生根据提示,口头表达一遍,以培养学生的口头表达能力。最后,让学生写成一篇文章,并当堂批改。这样可以逐一突破学生写作中的问题,如书写规范、干净整洁、用词妥当、使用连词、句式多变和语言流畅,从而真正提高语言的综合运用能力。

话题复习的这四个步骤是相互联系、相互制约的统一体。整个过程以话题引入开始,以话题写作结束,前后呼应,浑然一体。教师在设计教学活动时,应遵循“学生主体,教师主导”的理念,通过课上互学、课下互动等教学环节,强化学生的主体意识和竞争意识,提高初中英语复习课效率。

三、话题复习教学的反思

话题复习模式虽然效果好,但是毕竟它对于大部分老师来说是比较新的一种尝试,在复习的过程中难免会碰见一些问题。有了问题不可怕,重要的是要慢慢摸索,找出解决问题的途径。笔者经过两年的尝试,总结出了话题式复习在整合话题时要注意的一些问题。

(一)话题整合要基于课标,合理重组

我们现在使用的《英语(新目标)Go for it!》教材严格遵循《英语课程标准》(教育部2001)的教育观念和教学目标,采用“话题、功能、结构”的编排方式,交际功能的实践围绕着话题展开,语言知识的学习融合综合语言运用活动之中。同时,话题内容涵盖了学生生活的方方面面,在各个年级呈螺旋式的反复和上升,这为我们将整套教材的话题重新加以整合来系统地组织复习教学提供了条件。复习话题的整合要根据学生的学习实际,以更高更新的视角,对教材进行挖掘和整合,创造性地重组教材,通过话题的引领,使知识网络化、系统化。以动词时态这一语法为例,五级目标要求学生掌握现在进行时、一般现在时、一般过去时、一般将来时、过去进行时和现在完成时的用法,但教材编写者将这些语法现象分散在各册教材的多个单元中。以往我们分册进行语法分块复习,导致学生在语法学习和运用能力的发展上缺乏系统性,尤其在书面表达方面,语法错误百出,教学效果不理想。现在复习时我以某一话题为主线,将分散在各册的同个时态串连起来,梳理出完整的时态结构,再加以写作训练来运用,效果显著。

(二)话题整合要源于教材,适度拓展

《英语课程标准》要求初中毕业生课外阅读量应累计达到15万词以上。要达到这一要求,需要我们多渠道地补充教学内容,扩大学生的阅读量和知识面。但是,如何补充、补充什么样的材料,需要认真研究。教材中部分与学生生活密切相关的话题,如学校生活、兴趣爱好等内容较丰富,复习时可以对其进行更进一步的细化,有些话题呈现的是社会发展最前沿的信息,如热点话题、科普知识与现代技术等,因为教材编写的滞后性因素影响,往往不能最大限度地满足学生的需要,我们可以对这部分内容进行适度的拓展。

(三)话题整合要求以学生的学习兴趣为本
