Jane Eyre

After reading Jane Eyre,Ithink Jane is a very great woman. She is very intelligent,honest,plain-featured young girl forced to contend with oppression inequality and hardship.Although she meets with a series of individuals, who threaten her autonomy,Jane repeatedly succeeds at asserting herself and maintains her principles of justice, human dignity and morality. She also values intellectual and emotional fulfillment. Her strong belief in gender and social equality challenge the Victorian prejudices against women and the poor.I admire her very much.In my opinion ,she is a pride of humans. And another main character in the novel is Edward Rochester. As Jane’s employer and the master of Thornfield,Rochesteris a wealthy ,enthusiastic man with a dark secret. What’s more he is very unconventional,to interact with Jane frankly an directly,he can put aside everything he possessed. I think Jane Eyre is an autobiography of CharlottoBronte.Although the story is made up ,the heroine and people’s life and the environment in the story were taken from the details of real people around the experience.Charlotte Bronte described a young girl’s struggling life to express her inner thought :everyone is equal regardless of his or her gender. In the actual fact,Jane Eyre wasn’t pretty, even herself knows that, and of course, the ordinary aooearance make others have bad opinion on her. However,in my mind,a person’s beauty on the face can only make others feel that he or she is attractive or charming. If his or her mind isn’t the same noble as the appearance, beauty of this kind cannot last for a long time, only a person’s great virtue,a noble soul,a beautiful heart can be called as an everlasting beauty. Jane Eyre’s story makes me think about future life and I learn much from her experiences,I know everyone will have a better tomorrow if one holds his beliefs ,regardless of one’s status and the situation he is in.

Title: reading report about Jane Eyre

Name: Bu Gua(卜卦)

ID: 1204

Class: sophomore (2)

Jane Eyre, it’s one of my favorite English novels. Another one is Pride and prejudice. The two ladies, Jane and Elizabeth, are some kind of similar. Both of them are independent, long for true love, and defend against the old rules. They don’t have beautiful face, but they have beautiful minds.

When story began, Jane was a little girl living with her aunts and cousins. They didn’t like her, scolded her, treated her just like a nursemaid, and even locked her in the Red House. Later, she was sent to the Lowood School, where she met Helen, her friend. As time went by, the little poor girl grew up. Then she became a governess for a ten-year-old girl at Thornfield, where she met Mr. Rochester, her master. As a governess at Thornfield, she tasted the pleasures and pains of love. She fell in love with Rochester but had to leave him for some reasons. She found shelter at Moor House, where she focused on teaching and rejected Mr. River’s marriage. At the end, Jane returned to Thronfield after Mr. Rochester was blind. They have a quiet wedding:

“I know what it is to be love and be loved. No woman has ever been closer to her husband than I am to Edward. I am my husband’s life, and he is mine. We are always together, and have never had enough of each other’s company.”

Jane had a bad childhood, but it didn’t affect her much. She read books behind the thick curtain; she got education for eight years in poor condition; she was intelligent, sensible and wise. At the relationship with Edward Rochester, she was quite calm. The governess with her beautiful, pure and

frank soul, move Edward. Rochester was rich, clever but a little weird. Jane thought she didn’t really know him and never sure whether he was serious or joking. So she kept a distance with him. Fortunately, she came across the distance and expressed her love to Mr. Rochester:

“Do you think I can watch another woman become your bride? Do you think I’m a machine, without feelings? Do you think, because I’m small and poor and plain, that I have no soul and no heart? Well, you’re wrong! I have as much soul and heart as you. It’s my spirit that speaks to your spirit! We are equal in the sight of God!”

I think when you heard of these words, you would stand at Jane’s side definitely. And that’s love I long for. In our real life, there are many examples that ladies lose themselves and become dependent after marriage. They give up their careers and the husband and kids become their center. For another instance, some ladies get married to the man they don’t love but possess a lot. They regard their husbands as ATMs. For the former, they lose themselves in marriage; for the latter, they do exchange with marriage. Besides, some graduates fall in love with others due to loneliness. You can see such lovers break up upon several months. They do not take love seriously; they do not prepare to love somebody; even, they do not know what love is and how to love. They just pretend to know.

I’ve heard the words: who is a real man? A real man is the one you stay with but you can be yourself. When I was in high school, a Chinese poem

named To the Oak, impressed me a lot. I have to say, that’s the love I appreciate.

Jane Eyre——A Great Woman

Recently, I read a moving novel, Jane Eyre. It is the masterpiece of the famous writer Charlotte Bronte. This novel tells us the story of a poor but self-respecting girl—Jane Eyre.

Jane Eyre is an orphan, whose parents went off when she was very young. Her uncle became her guardian. After her uncle’ death, her aunt, Mrs. Reed, a harsh and unsympathetic woman, treats her as badly as a ragtag. Her early life at Gateshead is really terrible. One day, unable to bear the maltreatment any longer, Jane tells straight to her aunt’s face what she thinks of her. Mrs. Reed is furious and sends Jane to a charity school for poor girls in Lowood, where she lives an intolerable life and stays for eight years. These suffers from being humiliated and devastated teach Jane to be preserving and prize dignity over anything else. After graduation, Jane gets a chance to be a governess in Thornfield Garden. There she makes acquaintance of lovely Adele and the garden’s owner, Rochester, a man with worm heart but cold face. Jane expects to change the life from then on, but fate has decided otherwise. After Jane and Rochester fell in love with each other and got down to marry. She unfortunately comes to know that Rochester has got a wife who is mad and locked in a private room. Shocked by the news, Jane flees from the house. She goes through many hardships. Finally

helped by a parson, she gets the job of being a teacher in a village school. When the parson tells Jane that he wants to marry her, Jane suddenly realizes that Rochester is the person she really loves. So she finally returns to Thronfield Garden. After finding Rochester’s misfortune brought by his original mad wife, Jane chooses to stay with him forever.

After reading this novel, I was moved by Jane Eyre, this respecting and praiseworthy angel, this common but uncommon woman. Frankly speaking, at first, I think Jane Eyre is a poor and wretched girl, because my attention was drawn by the heavy sufferings that Jane experienced. However, when I have appreciated all words and thoughts of Jane’s in her hard time, I was persuaded to admit how common but uncommon she is! She says, “I am poor, mean, is not beautiful, diminutive, I do not have the soul not to have the heart? You were wrong! When we pass through the grave, stands in front of the God heel, is equal - - because we are equal!” In her opinion, everyone is the same at the God’s feet. Though there are differences in status, in property and also in appearance, but all the human beings are equal in personality. Although God did not grant her a beauty and wealth person, instead, God gave her a kind mind and a thoughtful brain. Her idea of equality and self-respect impressed us extremely much and make us feel the power inside her

small body.

This is Jane, and we can never forget her plain face but noble soul; we can never forget her weak body but magnanimous and charming personality; we can never forget her poverty in life but richness in spirit; we can never forget her search for freedom and her confident attitude towards life. That’s what makes her great. She is really an immortal tale in our mind.

Jane Eyre 读后感

Every time I read the story, I will be shocked deeply from my spirit. Or it’s just the relief. What I must admit is that I just want to make up for my lack of English literature, but I was attracted by it, touched by the main character of the story. Jane Eyre is a poor but aspiring, small in body but huge in soul, obscure but self-respecting girl. After we close the covers of the book, after having a long journey of the spirit, Jane Eyre, a marvelous figure, has left us so much to recall and to think. Jane was an ordinary girl without charming appearance, but she fell in love with her employer deeply. At first, she buried the love in her heart. When walking after the tea or dinner, she tried to appear that nothing had happened, but she always opened her memory to miss what they got along with each other. She also tried her best to fins out the marriage between Mr Rochester and Miss Englame. While, Rochester just appeared to be close to Englame, his favorite love was Jane. Actually, they loved each other very much; the words which Rochester said to Jane touched me. “Sometimes you just give me a particular feeling, and to those who use their beauty to stay with me, I find out that they don’t have the spirit as well as heart. I will be gentle and faithful forever.” As a common girl, I think Jane also moved by the words. It was thought that Jane and Mr Rochester would live a happy life, but it was stopped by a sudden accident. Jane left Rochester because his crazy wife showed up. Then the crazy woman died, Rochester blinded after saving his crazy wife. Rochester became poor in the fire, he lived in a wooden house among the forest alone. At this moment, Jane came back. Eventually, they lived together happily. Jane pursues the independent and the fair between woman and man. Though she has a hard experience, she loves her life, besides; she takes the love to the people who need it. In order to pursue a fair, true love, she even gave up her love which she is desired for. In my heart, Jane is a girl with love and reality; she tries her best to live better. Her life is beautiful as the stars.

Maybe in our general idea, it just is a love story. But on my individual level, it is perfect after I read it my times. And the moved story teaches me how to treat my life, the environment surrounding, and my feelings and how to treat people around us.

Love, friendship, relationship are the great value to human beings. Learning how to love others, thank others is important.

I admire and appreciate Jane. While we can’t ignore another character, Helen, a girl has the love the same as Jane. Helen is an angel in my heart. She is not extraordinary because she gives up the real life completely which makes her a high degree. She is cute, however, the angel in our heart are all cute. When Jane was abused by others, she found Helen’s eyes were strange, at last she understand that it was the true brave. Jane was just able to comfort herself with it, she couldn’t step into the spirit of Helen’s heart, and it was the difference between them. It also suggested that a little girl who could behave like this was really admirable.

While, her destination or her home, is the heaven.

Helen died at a very young age, but all her life was wonderful. When I woke up from my dream, I tried my best to seek the words and descriptions about Helen. Somehow I couldn’t receive the message that she died. To make me relief was that I ignored a detail. In the book on the gravestone of her described her “Resurgam”. The meaning of the Latin is “living again”. Then I was comfortable. I like the two characters in the story. We are satisfied with the final result because life needs light. We always like to search comfort from the book that it don’t exist in the reality. The world is full of various tragedies, if all the results are not wonderful, we can not find the hope. After read the book, we remember her goodness: for someone who lost arms and blinded in eyes, for someone who despised her for her ordinariness, and even for someone who had hurt her deeply in the past. I am like a companion with Jane went through a period of seemingly ordinary but again not mediocre life. Actually the life of Jane isn’t on a grand and spectacular scale, but she experiences an extraordinary way. Though a little bitter, she will be happy under the care of angel.

Generally speaking, this is our life. In fact, one has endless thoughts for the life. I always think in a difficult situation, if and when the hardships of this life is done, if and when the road of time no longer curves, if and when I try my best to walk to the end, will I be able to see the blinding sunlight? For the most important meaning in life is that, struggling through your trials you realize the value of your life, while taking away all the bitter misfortunes. Only then will we see the true radiance of the golden sun.

第5篇:简爱英文读后感:

Jane Eyer was a born resister, whose parents went off when she was very young, and her aunt, treated her as badly as a ragtag. Since Jane’s education in Lowwood Orphanage began, she didn’t get what she had been expecting——simply being regarded as a common person, just the same as any other girl around. She suffered a lot.As a reward of revolting the ruthless oppression, Jane got a chance to be a tutor in Thornfield Garden. There she made the acquaintance of lovely Adele and that garden’s owner, Rochester, a man with warm heart despite a cold face outside. Jane expected to change the life from then on, but fate had decided otherwise: After Jane and Rochester fell in love with each other and got down to get marry, she unfortunately came to know in fact Rochester had got a legal wife, who seemed to be the shadow following

Rochester and led to his moodiness all the time ----Rochester was also a despairing person in need of salvation. Jane did want to give him a hand, however, she made up her mind to leave, because she didn’t want to betray her own principles, because she was Jane Eyer. The film has finally got a symbolist end: Jane inherited a large number of legacies and finally returned. After finding Rochester’s misfortune brought by his original mad wife, Jane chose to stay with him forever.

“Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you would get.”

What’s more, this story didn’t end when Jane left Thornfield. For Jane Eyer herself, there should always be somewhere to realize her great ideal of being independent considering her fortitude, but for Rochester, how he can get salvation?

Jane eventually got back to Rochester. In fact, when Jane met Rochester for the first time, she scared his horse and made his heel strained, to a certain extent, which meant Rochester would get retrieval because of Jane. We can consider Rochester’s experiences as that of religion meaning. The fire by his frantic wife was the punishment for the cynicism early in his life. After it, Rochester got the mercy of the God and the love of the woman whom he loved. Here we can say: human nature and divinity get united perfectly in order to let such a story accord with the requirements of both two sides. The value of this no may be due to its efforts to explore a new way for the development of humanism under the faith of religion.

第6篇:《简爱》英文读后感

This is a story about a special and unreserved woman who has been exposed to a hostile environment but continuously and fearlessly struggling for her ideal life. The story can be interpreted as a symbol of the independent spirit.

It seems to me that many readers’ English reading experience starts with Jane Eyer. I am of no exception. As we refer to the movie “Jane Eyer”, it is not surprising to find some differences because of its being filmized and retold in a new way, but the spirit of the novel remains----to be an independent person, both physically and mentally.

Jane Eyer was a born resister, whose parents went off when she was very young, and her aunt, the only relative she had, treated her as badly as a ragtag. Since Jane’s education in Lowwood Orphanage began, she didn’t get what she had been expecting——simply being regarded as a common person, just the same as any other girl around. The suffers from being humiliated and devastated teach Jane to be persevering and prize dignity over anything else.As a reward of revolting the ruthless oppression, Jane got a chance to be a tutor in Thornfield Garden. There she made the acquaintance of lovely Adele and that garden’s owner, Rochester, a man with warm heart despite a cold face outside. Jane expected to change the life from then on, but fate had decided otherwise: After Jane and Rochester fell in love with each other and got down to get marry, she unfortunately came to know in fact Rochester had got a legal wife, who seemed to be the shadow following Rochester and led to his moodiness all the time ----Rochester was also a despairing person in need of salvation.

I don’t know what others feel, but frankly speaking, I would rather regard the section that Jane began her teaching job in Thornfield as the film’s end----especially when I heard Jane’s words “Never in my life have I been awaken so happily.” For one thing, this ideal and brand-new beginning of life was what Jane had been imagining for long as a suffering person; for another, this should be what the audiences with my views hoped her to get. But the professional judgment of producing films reminded me to wait for a totally different result: There must be something wrong coming with the excellence----perhaps not only should another section be added to enrich the story, but also we may see from the next transition of Jane’s life that “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you would get.” (By Forrest Gump’s mother, in the film “Forrest Gump”)

What’s more, this film didn’t end when Jane left Thornfield. For Jane Eyer herself, there should always be somewhere to realize her great ideal of being independent considering her fortitude, but for Rochester, how he can get salvation? The film gives the answer tentatively: Jane eventually got back to Rochester. The value of this film may be due to its efforts to explore a new way for the development of humanism under the faith of religion.
