一、模仿(Imitation)— 跟读是起点

要打好口语的基础,模仿是最初的一个过程。只有通过有效的模仿,考生们才能够从一开始就养成良好的发音习惯,形成正确的语音语调,培养出好的英语语感,潜移默化地接受英语思维的影响。

1.方法

众所周知,模仿最基本的方法便是跟读。跟读的途径可以是两种:一种是听录音跟读;一种是看录像跟读。对于还处在备考初期,口语较弱的考生来说还不急于接触雅思考试的真题,不管是录音还是录像,都可以选择较简单,较实用,较生活化的材料跟读如新概念的一二册。可以对着镜子矫正自己的口型,语速由慢及快的练习。

2.目的① 语音语调

发音正确与否直接决定说话对象是否能领会自己所要表达的意思。英语的发音方式与汉语肯定有很大的不同,如果从一开始就不能很好地掌握英语的发音,或是形成了较为奇怪的语调,养成习惯之后就再难纠正过来。从最基本的词汇开始对语音语调的训练是模仿最直接的目的。有时只听录音还不能完全了解个别发音的过程,如θ和e的音,所以通过录像来学习就可以更加直观,让发音得以完善,变得更加到位。

② 句式句型

有了单个词汇或词组的扎实基础,接下来模仿句子的步骤就会更容易进行。因为如果单词的发音准确,对于词组或句子中爆破和连读等语音技巧就能更顺利地掌握。另外对句式和句型的熟悉已经可以开始让考生慢慢接触和适应英文的思维方式和表达方式,对英文的逻辑如如何界定事物等产生一个基本的概念,这是隐形的目的。当然,在这个过程中,对句子整体语调的把握也是重点,考生可以开始最基本的交流。

二、复述(Repetition)— 背诵是基础

模仿是一个长期的过程,到达一定程度以后,对于段落篇章的内容考生便可以开始练习复述。学习语言的过程与记忆密不可分,而体现记忆过程的最初形态便是背诵。

在雅思上我觉得是Nothing is impossible.我考了3次,第一次裸考口语5.5,第二次准备20天6。不谈什么备考方法,在口语上准备和没准备都可能有0.5分的差距。这次准备的时间有1个月,找对了方法,虽然成绩是7分,但我相信自己肯定还有非常多的不足。

1.考雅思普遍的误区

时间误区:经常看到一些人问几月考会简单几月考会难这样的问题。其实雅思官方是不可能将难易程度偏向某场考试的,只能说可能每年会换题的两个月会相对“难”一些。

但其实说这几个月“难”无非就是新题目数量的增多。如果掌握了答题的技巧,不管新题目就题目区别就是回答方法。所以,考试时间应该根据自己的学校申请来选择,不是说哪个月难就避开。换句话说,可能别人觉得容易的对你来说难,你觉得容易的别人觉得难。

地区误区:从考雅思到现在,好似有个普遍的认同就是偏远地区的考官会抓的松一些。我觉得这和运气有关。以前考雅思的人不多的时候,一些偏远考点可能人数少确实会相对松一些。但现在雅思处于全国爆满的状态,不管什么考场人都不少。考官也是流动的,如果你所在的考点有考位,就直接在本地考;如果确实在本地考烦了,换个附近的考点也可以。

连考误区:这个就不多废话了。连着报几场考试真心是精力有限忙不过来,根本没办法静下心来复习。一次次比上次分数低自信心也受打击,考多了最后就放弃了。身边有几个人同学都是这样的,本来还想出国的,连着两场下来都决定放弃去考公务员了。

2.选择复习材料和使用方法

口语复习,我的具体做法:首先按照预测和十天将话题整理出来,人/物/事/是最基本的整理方法,我全部都是自己用草稿纸写下来,大约30个不到;整理好之后按照这些topic逐个写简介,注意不是写完整答案是简介,每个话题我能想到的点。30个话题写提纲很快就能完成,接下来就是要用准确的表达来将这些提纲串成完整的句子。在地道短语和词汇上可以参考,注意是参考短语和单词而不是照着背句子。如果照着背那前面做的什么整理什么框架简介全部白费。在做上面“细活“时不要把每个句子都用笔写下来,一张纸一张纸像写作文似的。把可能记不住的短语备注在topic旁边,其他的东西全部在脑子里想一遍。

以上“准备工作”全部做完之后,接下来才是真正进入主题:开口说。上面说的那些写“简介/提纲/框架”可能大家会觉得心里没底,那些长句子不背下来即兴说根本说不出来。我觉得,写作和口语最大的不同点就在句子使用上。

写作是考你句式多样性和用词多样性,而口语就是考你的表达,用最简单直接的句子能不能把你的想法说清楚,就这么简单。练这些话题的时候可以自己对着墙说。PART2部分一定要练到非常熟悉,因为这部分经常变着法子问,就像我PART2考到的something useful you were taught这个题貌似就是把之前的a person who taught you a useful skill变了一下。其实从很多老师的预测里也可以看出,雅思口语考的就是话题的熟悉程度,不是考你知道多少单词你经历多丰富。一个从来想都没想过的话题放在面前,就算一个英文再厉害的人都不知道从何说起。

在句子构思上,我不太明白很多大牛说的“英式思维”。作为一个地道的中国考生,一时半会把思维都改变了不现实,只能说尽可能的用地道的表达去代替过于chinglish的想法。这个完全可以在语法上改变

3.怎样的回答能打动考官

我身边有个真实的例子,大学时的一个校友,去加拿大,她的英语基础一般,考口语的时候大多用的都是简单句子,内容都是说的自己的事情,最后竟然是6分。当时我正一战5.5简直都不敢相信,后来才知道她考试的时候和考官聊的很H,貌似是找到了共同语言。

其实考口语,雅思考官只想听你真实的想法,你的观点。根本不想听已经听了N遍的那些“看起来华丽”的句子和“有趣”的内容。考官是活人,TA能感受到你讲述自己真实经历的心情,哪怕你用的只是一些简单的句子和常见的单词。一句话:真实的考生最能打动考官。所以千万不要背别人的东西。

4.常用句式和过渡词

前面说了很多方法,没有说到实质的东西。附上我常用的句式和过渡词给大家参考:

常用句式: Speaking of…..I would like to describe….Continuing then with the next point of …..What I ought to stress here is that…the reason why…There are several points explaining why…..

常用过渡词:With reference to ….in/with regard to….as far as I’m concerned…..from my perspective….generally speaking….

最后,口语方法再多也比不上自己亲自实践。也许大家在大量的练习中总结出了更适合自己的提高办法。

Well, to be totally honest with you, I might have to say that I always wanted to be in any profession except for teaching, for I reckoned it as a challenging job. However, life is full of surprises and when i was a sophomore at my university, a freshman came to me for help when he was assigned to make a presentation in class while he hadn’t done one before. He was one of the members in our department of the Students’ Union when I was the department head. So I felt that I was obliged to give him a hand.

He needed to use the software, Powerpoint to make his presentation slides. However, just as I said, he was totally new to the presentation thing and it took a long time for me to teach him. I had to repeat the same thing over and over again before he knew how to insert texts and images. After we finished making the presentation slides, I had to teach him how to make a public speech in front of a bunch of people as he had never done so. This was where the rub was. He was such a shy boy that the thought of standing in front of the public made himshiver. Therefore, I had to spend a lot of time encouraging him and motivating him. Besides, I made him talk in front of his peers in the Students’ Union so that he could gain some confidence. After a fortnight’s preparation, his presentation was well-received and he even got an A for the assignment!

I was so proud of what he had achieved as he went from a boy who were too afraid to talk in public to a confident one who could even tell jokes! I also felt extremely fulfilled by helping him out.
