一、课堂组织到位,是新课堂教学的保证

七年级学生年龄小,求知欲强,新奇好动,课堂教学组织不好就会出现学生“满堂乱”、教师“满堂喊”的局面,教师会弄得疲惫不堪,学生则嬉戏玩乐一无所获。我的措施有以下三方面。

1. 确定新课程教学的目标,建立合理的评价方案。

简单地说,就是针对学生的上课情况编制一个考察评估表,对其基础知识的掌握、相关能力的发展,学生努力的程度等进行全面评价。

2. 引入竞争机制,激励学生上好课。

具体做法是正视个体差异,倡导过程激励。每一单元学习结束,对所学内容进行单元测评,测评优秀者给予奖励分数,一学期下来统计分数多少,并给予相应的奖励。

3. 培养课堂助手,让学生参与组织教学。

这就是选一些英语综合素质高的学生担任小组长,课前让他们组织学生预习新知识、复习旧知识;课堂上让他们帮助基础较差的学生朗读对话并表演对话,在小组讨论时,促使基础稍差的学生积极参与讨论,并认真倾听别的同学的讨论内容。实践证明,发动学生参与组织教学,比教师唱“独角戏”要好得多。

二、教师指导到位,是落实新课堂教学的关键

指导学生预习。此预习是每节课的前五分钟至前十分钟,主要包含以下内容:检查学生在家的预习情况,这主要通过检查讲学稿上的课前预习的练习来完成;如果内容少一点,教师就应辅导学生先看书上内容,然后指导学生找出文中的重点、难点;如果内容多一点,教师首先指导学生看一遍内容,然后找出文中的生单词,最后在教师的指导下找出文中的重点、难点。

指导学生复习。 (1) 作业布置的指导:“一把钥匙开一把锁”,针对学生的不同特点分别强调不同的侧重点,有的内容基础性强,对于每个学生都有认真做的必要,那就均衡要求,但有的题目过于简单,那就对基础不太好的学生着重要求,严格强调;但对于一些能力要求高,题目又有相当难度的,则对基础好的学生严格要求。 (2) 作业批改的指导:根据作业布置的不同情况,对作业批改采用了“好顾差”、“中兼中”的措施。所谓好顾差,指基础好的学生以作业的形式对基础差的学生的基础题进行批改以巩固其没做的缺陷;中兼中指中等生之间讨论并进行批改,然后由教师讲解纠正。这两部分的指导加上课堂其余部分的引导构成了教学环节中不可或缺的非常重要的一部分,是新课堂教学的关键。

三、能力培养到位,是落实新课堂教学的根本

通过新课堂教学不仅应使学生获得充分的感性知识,而且应使学生获得充分的观察能力、动口能力、分析判断,使其综合的思维能力、创造能力等得到同步的提高。其中动口能力与思维能力的提高是英语新课堂教学的两个主要任务。教学中如何落实,我认为教师应从以下两方面进行。

1. 应尽可能锻炼学生的动口能力。

英语作为一门语言,它的终极目的就是用、说,光学不说,那是“哑巴英语”。“哑巴英语”学得再好,也没有实际的用途,所以在教学中教师应尽可能多地让学生动口: (1) 教师要求学生课下、在家等其它非教室场合动口说英语; (2) 课堂上尽量不讲汉语。七年级学生由于英语词汇的有限性决定着其表达的困难,但我要求他们只要能用英语说的一律不准用汉语,说错了没关系,要么教师引导纠正,但更多的是让他们学多了以后慢慢纠正; (3) 增加学生的词汇量:在小学学习英语的基础上,在七年级刚开始,我就系统地教学生学好英语音标,毕竟音标是学习英语词汇的一个手段。在学习音标之后,对于练习册等其它辅助资料上出现的一些简单易记的生词鼓励学生去记。词汇积累得多了,表达起来就不那么拗口了。通过上述措施,学生的动口勇气和最基本的动口能力基本上得到了落实,同时也扩大了学生的知识面,进而满足了学生的表达欲望。

2. 应注重启迪学生思维。

为启迪学生的思维,引导学生既动手又动脑,做到手脑并用。比如我在教学Unit 14的十种颜色时,一是根据学生的实际物品的颜色引入这一话题,提起学生的兴趣,然后要求学生动手制作一些又简单又明显表示这十种颜色的一些实物小卡片,有些学生用水彩笔仅三、四分钟就制出了十种颜色实物小卡片,然后让学生拿着卡片练习:“What’s this?”及“What colour is...?”等句型并学习颜色,这样既锻炼了学生的动手能力,又启发了学生的思维,并加强了记忆。分析和综合是思维最基本的过程,分析合理透彻,综合也就顺理成章。

3. 鼓励课外拓展,语言习得。

活动越多,学生可理解性的输入越多,语言习得就越多,“为用而学,用中学,学了就用”。教师不仅在课内,还可以根据教学内容的需要将任务延伸到课外。教师结合学生实际,丰富教学内容,创造运用英语的机会,给学生提供展现学习成果的机会。如制作School cards, Lost and found, Christmas cards, calendar, Time table等,把它们展览出来,让每个学生体验到学以致用的成功感。

综上所述,新课程改革下的课堂教学,需要调动学生的积极性,改变学习方式,加强教师的科学引导,做到既新颖别致,又踏实稳妥;既重视语言情景的创设,又使课堂简洁高效。

转折引起的作者态度及交谈重点的变化

如本次考题中第1题:

W: Simon, oh, well, could you return the tools I lend you for building the bookshelf last month?

M: Oh, I hate to tell you this, but I can't seem to find them.

Q: What do we learn from the conversation?

这道短对话题中,女士的话很复杂,涉及要求返还、返还物品、租借理由、租借时间等诸多信息,但这些都不是考点。真正的考点在男士那句简单回答中——转折词but后的内容。其实,这句话完全可以视为“I'd love to, but...”的一种变体,but后所接的部分往往是说话人不能做某件事的理由,这类题目是四级考试考查的重点之一。本题中的“I can't seem to find them”无非就是无法返还物品的理由罢了。

再如本次考题中的第4题:

W: Daddy, I have decided to give up science and go to business school.

M: Well, it is your choice as long as you pay your own way, but I should warn you that not everyone with a business degree will make a successful manager.

本题考查的重点同样是but后面的转折部分,父亲的回答前半部分是对女儿提出的要求进行妥协,而“but”的出现则让话锋一转,使后半句变成了训诫。句中那个“well”是否让你想起了那句“Well, I'd love to, but...”呢?

对现象的原因的阐述与补充

考题中越来越多地出现隐含的原因,即没有明确的表示原因的连词引导的原因,以本次考试的第6题为例:

W: Bob said that Seattle is a great place for conferences.

M: He is certainly in the position to make that comment. He has been there so often.

Q: What does the man say about?

在本题中,男士的第二句话其实是对第一句话的补充说明,说明Bob之所以有资格说Seattle是开会的好地方的原因。如果在第二句前面加上一个because,考点就比较清晰了,当然,这样题目的难度也就大幅度降低了。同时,这里没有出现because,也说明这不是说话人经过严密思考后说出的句子,因此仅仅是个补充而已。

对反问句及反意疑问句的考查

在四级听力考试中,反问句和反意疑问句永远都是以“无疑而问”的形式出现的,因此考生只要能很好地把握这个特点,就很容易解题。当然,反问句往往作为加强语气的建议句型出现,这一考点将在下文进行分析。

W: I just read in the newspaper that Lord of the Rings is this year's greatest hit. Why don't we go and see it at the Grand Cinema?

M: Don't you think that cinema is a little out of the way?

Q: What does the man mean?

这里的“Don't you think...”就是个典型的反问句的表达,它充分体现了男士的态度。“难道你不认为”其实就是“我认为”或者说“你应该认为”的意思。另外,题干中还有一处反问,就是在女士最后一句中的 “Why don誸 we...”,“我们为什么不”就相当于“我们应该”,这也是考试经常出现的重点句型之一,它是建议句型的一种常见表达形式。

再看本次考试的第10题:

M: This article is nothing but advertising for housing developers. I don't think the houses for sale are half that good.

W: Come on, David. Why so negative? We are thinking of buying a home, aren't we? Just a trip to look at the place won't cost us much.

本题的“Why so negative?”中虽然没有“not”出现,但也是反问句的句式,实际意思就是“not”,即“你不应该这样消极”。而后面的反意疑问“aren't we?”在考试中总是作为附加的累赘出现,从来不作为考点,在听的过程中可以一带而过。

对建议句型的考查

建议句型往往是比较复杂的考点之一,因为句型相对比较多,而且隐蔽性比较强,比如上文提到的反问句型,我们不妨再看一下本次考试中其它几个建议句型,如本次考题第3题:

M: Why don't you buy one yourself? Think how much time you could save.

Q: What does the man suggest the woman do?

问题直接指向建议——suggest,自然题干中的“Why don't you...”就成了重中之重。否定的反问体现的其实是肯定的意思,男士的言下之意无非是“You should buy one yourself.”能体会到这一层,答案自然也就呼之欲出了。

再看本次考试第2题:

W: I found an expensive diamond ring in the restroom this morning.

M: If I were you, I would turn it in to the security office. It is behind the administration building.

Q: What does the man suggest the woman do?

本题的考点依然在对建议句型的把握上,而且题目中出现的是建议句型中最容易被忽略的虚拟语气句型“If I were you,...”其实说的无非是“你应该……如何如何”。该句型以前曾多次出现过,感兴趣的同学可以参考1993年6月第7题、1996年1月第9题、2000年6月第4题。

通过对历年考题举一反三,要做出这样的“难题”也绝非什么难事。

对场景、人物关系的推测

场景和人物关系一直都是四级考试的重要考点,它要求考生通过把握特征词汇来推测事情发生的地点以及当事人之间的关系。例如本次考试的第7题:

W: Mr. Watson, I wonder whether it's possible for me to take a vacation early next month?

M: Did you fill out a request form?

Q: What is the probable relationship between the two speakers?

本题的关键词是vacation。从“女士向男士申请休假”这件事很容易推测他们之间的关系了,所以考生要注意把握vacation这样的关键词汇。

再如本次考试第9题:

W: Wow, I do like this campus. All the big trees, the green lawns, and the old buildings with tall columns. It's really beautiful.

M: It sure is. The architecture of these buildings is in the Greek style. It was popular in the 18th century here.

因为在以往的考试中已经出现过一些日常生活最常见的场景,所以最近几次考试也在寻找一些新的场景词来加大考题的难度,本题题干中其实已经出现了答案“campus”一词,所以不是一道难题。但如果考生没有听到这个词,无疑要通过后文一些有相当难度的词来推测了,比如:trees, lawns, columns, architecture等等,像lawns, architecture, Greek style这样的难词往往使考生云里雾里,孰不知最重要的其实就是那个campus。

类似的题目前几次考试中也有,比如2005年1月第9题:

M: Would you pass me the Sports Section please?

W: Sure, if you give me the classified Ads and Local News Section.

这题中以Sports Section、Ads、以及Local-News Section为引导信息,给出了一个读报场景。

对语音语调的考查

语音语调作为一个辅助手段,在答题中往往也能起到不可估量的作用,请联系前面提到的第10题和1999年6月第4题,可谓万变不离其宗:

趋势分析

综上所述,2005年6月的考题依然遵循以往的考试规律和特点,但在第8、9、10题中也不失时机地加入了一些较长的句子,体现了现行考试在句型句式、言外之意和内容复杂化三个方面的发展趋势。

对于听力短文部分,本次考试三篇文章长度逐渐增加,而题量则按照3、4、3的顺序安排,3篇文章都以说明文的体裁出现。

第一篇描述了未来交通状况,3道题目对文章的三个部分分别提问。该文章第一部分描述了未来汽车的发展变化;第二部分描述了未来交通会向空中发展;而第三部分则写到人们将实现去宇宙旅行的梦想。这也就是3道题的出题点。

第二篇文章是关于吃馅饼比赛的一篇建议型文章。虽然有4个考题,但除第1题对该比赛的地点提问外,其余3道题无一例外地对文章中若干建议进行了筛选提问。

第三篇文章介绍了订婚期的一些事宜。其中就订婚期中的一些重要问题进行了选择提问,比如订婚戒指的象征,为什么戒指要戴在中指上,订婚期的重要性等等。

一、培养学英语的兴趣, 增强学生学好英语的自信心

1. 强化学习英语的动机, 引导学生入门。

初学英语的学生, 对英语有着强烈的好奇心, 教师要抓住这一特点, 加以正确引导。帮助学生认识到英语学习的必要性和重要性, 提高他们对英语学习价值的认识。明确了英语学习的重要性就会产生强烈的求知欲望, 从而产生兴趣。

2. 营造轻松愉快的课堂气氛, 提高教学效果。

在教学中, 要根据学生的年龄特点, 采用各种激趣方法, 营造轻松愉快的课堂气氛, 促成学生的自主参与。利用实物、图片、简笔画、多媒体等教学手段, 让枯燥的英语单词直观形象化, 吸引学生的“眼球”, 抓住学生的兴趣点和注意力, 调动了学生积极思维, 使学生愉快地掌握了所学的知识。

3. Role play。

三、进行学法指导, 培养自学能力

现在的初中学生在小学三年级就开始学英语。但是,到了初中有相当一部分同学的英语成绩极差,甚至到了九年级,有些学生连48个音标也不认识,更不会根据音标来读记单词。作为一个初中英语教师,怎样才能使学生学习英语有一个好的开端,使他们一开始学起来就感到轻松愉快而且成绩好呢?每次接手七年级新生时,笔者都不急于教新课,总是先教会他们音标。等他们能够认读、会写、会划分音节,会根据音标读单词、根据音标记单词时,笔者才开始上新课。这样单词关就很容易过了,不再需要为教单词而大伤脑筋。笔者教起来顺手,学生学起来也轻松多了。下面是笔者在多年的英语教学实践中总结出来的音标教学的一点粗浅经验:

一、先教字母音标,轻松易学

首先,教会学生26个字母的音标。对于26个字母学生已经非常熟悉了。笔者先教学生认读26个字母的音标,让他们对音标有一定的认识。然后把字母的音标拆开,认读单个的音素。这样,学生就很容易明白音标是什么,并能很容易记住26个字母的音标。第一节课这样上,会让学生觉得学音标不是很难的事情。

二、元音辅音教学,紧紧跟上

良好的开端是成功的一半,七年级入门教学的成功与否直接影响整个中学阶段的英语教学。学生在第一节课开了个好头,要适当表扬,趁热打铁。紧接着要教元音和辅音时,告诉他们发音的常识比盲目被动的模仿要收效大。

在教元音时首先要强调舌位,使学生有意识地感到音所发部位的前,中,后,高,中,底之分。可以利用口形图来加强直观效果。英语元音字母和元音音素数目差别很大,应把二者结合起来进行教学。

在教辅音时首先要强调声带的振动与否,这是区分清辅音和浊辅音的关键。辅音的清浊对语义的影响甚大,可以让学生把手放在喉部去感觉发浊辅音时的声带振动现象,浊音与清音一起练习。辅音练习应以音节为基本单位,只能通过单词的读音来练习。

三、学会划分音节,巩固记忆

首先,教会学生有关音节的基本知识:

1. 音节是读音的基本单位,任何单词的读音,都是分解为一个个音节朗读。在英语中,元音特别响亮,一个元音可构成一个音节,一个元音和一个或几个辅音音素结合也可以构成一个音节。一般说来,元音可以构成音节,辅音不响亮,不能构成音节。但英语辅音字母中有4个辅音是响音,它们和辅音音素结合,也可构成音节。

单音节:只有一个音节构成,如he,hat,wind,lamp等;

双音节:有两个音节构成,如window,bookstore,bedroom,under等;

多音节:三个或三个以上的音节称为多音节,如三个音节的sql 字符串左截取词,computer,injs页面跳转ternet,kangaroo等,三个音节以上的词,如congratulate,habitation等。

2. 划分音节的方法:元音是构成音节的主体,辅音是音节的分界线。

(1)两辅音之间不管有多少个元音,一般都是一个音节。如:bed(床),bet(打赌)。

(2)两元音字母之间有一个辅音字母时,辅音字母归后一音节,如:la’bour(劳动)。

(3)有两个辅音字母时,一个辅音字母归前一音节,一个归后一音节,如:let‘ter(信),win’ter(冬天)。

(4)不能拆分的字母组合按字母组合划分音节。如:fa’ther(父亲),tea’cher(教师)。

3. 音节按读音可以分为开音节和闭音节,开音节又可以分为绝对开音节和相对开音节。

(1)绝对开音节:是指一个元音字母后面没有辅音字母而构成的音节,例如:we,hi,yo-yo.

(2)相对开音节:是指一个元音字母后面有一个辅音字母(除r)之外,最后是一个不发音的e构成的音节,如:take,make,在开音节中,這个元音字母发“字母”本身音,例如hi|hai|,use|ju:z|.

(3)闭音节:指元音字母后面有辅音字母(辅音字母r除外)构成的音节,如:leg,cross.

4. 音节按重读可以分为重读音节和非重读音节。

(1)单音节词作重读处理,但不标重音符号。

(2)重读音节:指在双音节或多音节词中有一个发音特别响亮的音节,叫重读音节,用重音符号“`”标于相应位置,其他音节为非重读音节,如be`gin.

待学生了解音节的基本知识以后,就要通过单词的读音来划分音节。从熟悉的单词入手,这样更容易理解和掌握音节。

四、读写齐头并进,记忆更牢

在初级阶段音标的教学以认读和拼读为主比较恰当,在与字母的对比中教学音标。音标内部也要进行比较,在写法上做比较,让学生学会写音标也是非常重要的。边读边写,或根据音标写单词,更难的是根据单词写音标。读和写齐头并进,这样更有利于记忆。

五、多练习,做到熟能生巧

大班上课,学生单独练习的机会很少,这也是中学语音教学最为困难的问题。解决办法就是要求学生首先听清、听准,然后开口模仿发准。对部分学生的错音要及时纠音,使单独学生的练习和纠错成为全班学生练习和纠错的典型。教师应提供大量听音、模仿和实践的机会,帮助学生养成良好的发音习惯。全班集体活动和个别活动相结合,这样可以督促全体学生认真进行个别活动,完成活动指标。

笔者一直要求学生大声读音标、读单词,让学生克服害羞心理,经常读,每天读,时间长了,就能养成好的习惯。这样,熟能生巧,记起单词来又快又牢,学生也可以自学单词。

在教授音标后,必须让学生有足够的练习。较好的方法就是默写单词时要求他们默写音标。大量练习后,他们才能真正巩固所学的音标,还可以开展写学音标竞赛、听写音标比赛; 竞赛中比较字符串根据单词写音标或根据音标写单词的比赛等。这样既能提高学生们的学习兴趣,又能巩固他们所学的音标。
