那时，爷爷已经很老了，我们作为孙子辈儿的人也一个个长大，但只有在重阳节时，爷爷总会想着办法将我们邀来唤去。我们发现，这时的爷爷就特别慈祥和蔼，他仿佛在过自己的生日一样，等着我们亲切地为他祝福。

但好久以来，我们并不知晓重阳节真正的意味是什么，既不是中秋，可以吃到香甜的月饼，又不是春节，收到可喜的压岁钱，也不是爷爷的生日那样，子孙满堂地为他祝寿。重阳节在我们的心目中，只不过是农历九月初九的日子，更不见满城黄金般的菊花。而后，我们从唐代诗人一首《九月九日忆山东兄弟》的诗中得知：“独在异乡为异客，每逢佳节倍思亲。遥知兄弟登高处，遍插茱萸少一人。”但我们一直守在爷爷身边的呀，依然无从领略到那种独在异乡的感触和情感。

在我离开家乡小城，来到另外的城市落下脚跟后，爷爷越发地老了，对爷爷的思念每日愈甚，尤其想起爷爷在重阳时的那种音容笑貌，令我备感心动。哦，原来爷爷除了中秋渴望月圆团聚，春节喜庆全家幸福，还有自己的生日接受祝寿之外，仍有一个也是爷爷非常看重的更加重要的日子——重阳节，因为重阳节是老年人的节日，也才是自己真正的日子啊!
