高考英语阅读理解题主要是由阅读短文和短文后的试题组成的。阅读理解短文选材广泛, 内容丰富, 往往涉及日常生活、人物传记、国内外风土人情、故事传说、社会文化、政治经济、史地科技、自然现象、新闻报道、体育活动、广告说明、书信通知、目录等许多方面的内容。文体多采用叙述、描写、说明、议论及应用文等形式。笔者从事英语教学近七年, 深深感到有些学生之所以很难提高英语成绩主要是因为阅读能力的欠缺, 因此在现阶段的英语教学中, 如何提高阅读能力就显得尤为重要了。现将高考英语阅读理解题中时事新闻类文章的特点、命题角度及解题策略分述如下:

一、文章特点

时事新闻类阅读材料的组成有一个共同的特点, 即都是由标题 (H eadlines) 、导语 (Introductions) 、背景 (Background) 、主体 (M ain body) 和结尾 (Ends) 五部分构成。此类文章主题突出, 文章的第一句话或第一自然段往往就是对整篇文章的高度概括, 因此读懂首句或首段至关重要。下面分别叙述这五个部分在阅读理解中的作用:

标题是新闻报道中心思想高度而又精辟的概括, 必然是命题者考虑设题的重点。这类阅读理解材料常不给出标题, 而要考生选择标题。因此, 学生平时在看英语报刊或者在做时事新闻类阅读理解题时要特别注意研究标题和英语标题的特点。作为新闻中最重要的组成部分, 新闻标题总结新闻的内容, 使读者一目了然。英语新闻标题语言特别, 与其他文体有较大的差异。新闻标题有许多功能, 其最大功能就是吸引功能。因此, 新闻标题的设计就极为重要, 这也决定了新闻标题简练醒目、可读性强、风趣幽默、新颖奇特的特点。因此, 了解其语言特点不仅能够帮助学生更好地理解新闻内容, 而且还能够帮助学生提高解题能力。

导语是消息开头的第一段或第一句话, 它扼要地揭示出消息的核心内容, 高度概括新闻事实。因此, 抓导语便对新闻事件有了大体把握, 对做阅读理解试题来说就是抓住了“牛鼻子”。作者总是在一开始就向读者交代何人、何时、何地、为什么、怎么样、干了何事等等, 如果是用英文表示就是who (w hom) 、what、when、where、why以及how, 这也就是我们通常所说的五个“W”和一个“H”。一般来说, 新闻一开始就交代了以上内容, 只要读懂了第一句也就明白了这则新闻的大概意思, 再往下读只是了解更多的细节内容。在训练新闻阅读理解练习题时, 一定要牢记这五个“W”和一个“H”。边读边分析边记忆各自的情况, 不仅有助于搞清文章的脉络, 弄清基本事实, 还有助于提高阅读能力, 提高阅读速度。

新闻背景交待新闻事实的起因, 主体是消息的主要部分, 它用充足的事实表现主题, 是对导语内容的进一步展开和阐释。

新闻报道的结语一般是最后一句话或者一段话, 通常对全文内容作概括性的总结, 或对新闻事件的发展趋势作出预测。有时, 作者根据报道的事实在结语中提出令人深思的问题。结尾往往是新闻事件的结果或动态展望, 也是中心思想的概括并常常与新闻导语相呼应, 命题者也乐于在此设题。

二、命题角度

此类阅读材料的命题在新闻背景和主体部分设题较多, 有时可能会省去一两个部分, 要求考生依据五个部分之间的必然联系去推知未知的要素。

命题形式主要有事实细节题、词义猜测题、推理判断题和识图题等, 其中事实细节题和计算题占多数。

三、解题策略

高考英语阅读理解题中时事新闻类文章具有很大的实用性, 侧重考查学生运用英语解决实际问题的能力。近年来, 此类阅读文章中难句增多、生词量加大, 这要求学生在学习过程中增加阅读量, 积累更多的课外词汇。《21世纪学生英文报》语言地道, 知识丰富, 里面包含了很多国内外时事新闻类的文章。笔者要求所教学生订阅《21世纪学生英文报》, 每周开设英语报刊阅读课。学生学习英语的兴趣有了明显提高, 培养了各项英语学习技能, 学习效果明显提高。同时学生扩大了词汇量, 拓展了文化视野, 情感道德价值观受到熏陶, 其时事新闻类文章的解题速度和解题能力得到明显提高。

另外笔者建议学生可以利用收音机或电脑收听“美国之音”, 那上面的材料都是最新的时事材料, 同时也是最地道的美国英语。学生可以收听“美国之音”中“special English”的新闻节目。这样既能提高英语听力, 又能了解国内外时事新闻进而提高英语阅读能力, 真是一举两得的事。

最后要想做好时事新闻类阅读理解题, 学生必须要善于捕捉新闻细节, 根据问题善于找到相关句并能分析理解长难句, 善于根据上下文猜测单词、短语的含义, 善于归纳、概括、推理、判断及简单计算, 这样才能做好这部分试题。

总之, 阅读理解试题是高考试题中最重要的一项内容, 在近年的高考英语阅读理解题中, 时事新闻报道类的文章出现频率较高, 占有相当重要的地位。英语阅读能力的培养是一个渐进的复杂过程, 要养成每天阅读英语的习惯, 循序渐进, 持之以恒。在潜移默化中你会感觉到你的阅读能力有了长足的提高。如果学生按上述解题策略去做, 再做些适当的练习, 一定会在时事新闻类文章的阅读解题能力上取得突破。

高中英语作为高考的重要学科之一,往往占有很大的分值比重,是学生战胜高考的一场关键性的战役。学生要充分重视高中英语这门学科,尤其要重视分值最高的阅读理解类题目,要从平时的学习中总结出一套适合自己的答题技巧。

高中英语试卷中的阅读理解类题目往往所牵扯的知识点有很多,而且很复杂,学生在做这类题目时往往会觉得比较吃力。其实这类题目的难度虽然大,但是也不是不可攻破的,只要学生寻找到解答此类题目的规律,就可以轻松应对英语阅读理解题目了。

一、仔细审题,从题目入手,通读全文,获取有用信息

阅读理解类题目的篇幅往往很长,而且单词数量多,因此,大部分学生反映,自己在做阅读理解的时候时间不够用,总觉得读了很长的文章最后只需要做五个选择题,这种做法很浪费时间。其实这个时候,老师可以教给学生一条不同于常规的做题方法,就是先读选择题题目,再读文章,带着问题通读全文能有效的节省时间。

高中英语试卷的题量较大,而答题的时间又不够充裕,很多学生都会在考试之后抱怨说自己又没有答完试卷,而没有答完的部分往往集中在题目难度较大,篇幅较长的阅读理解类题目上。大部分学生通常采取先读文章再答题的解题方法,这种方法确实有利于学生更加充分地理解文章,但是针对有时间限制的英语考试来说,这种方法可能就显得有些笨拙和守旧了。学生在通读一篇文章的基础上审题,在审题的过程中思考文章的内容,然后带着题目再次返回文章进行答案的寻找,这样的做法不知不觉地浪费了第一遍读文章的时间,这对于答题慢的学生来说是很不利的。

学生不妨换一条思路来解题,尝试运用先读题后读文章的方法进行阅读理解类题目的解答。例如,我们在阅读理解类题目中往往会遇到一些询问事件发生地点的题目,这时,学生可以先读题目,寻找出题目中所强调的具体事件,然后带着能表达关键性事件的关键词回到原文中,这样就可以轻松地从原文中获取到答案了。

二、瞪大眼睛,不放过任何能够表达细节类的关键词

高中英语试卷中的阅读理解类题目最常见的一种题型就是细节理解题,细节理解类题目所包含的题型又有很多种,例如推断作者观点、预测文章情节的走向、判断选项中与原文意思不相符的一项等等。这些题目的解答其实并不困难,只要求学生保持认真仔细的阅读态度,找到阅读理解类题目中的关键词,就可以轻松解决这类题目。

最常见的是推断作者观点或者立场的题目,这种题目的解题关键往往在于推断作者在文章的字里行间中透露出的语气。就需要学生在读文章的时候利用自己的火眼金睛,仔细寻找能够表达作者态度的关键词,寻找一些能够表达作者看法的标志性形容词。例如,作者在表达对文章中心事物的赞成时,往往会运用positive这一类褒义的积极性词汇,但是在表达对文章中心事物的反对时,则会运用一些消极的词汇,表达贬义的词汇。同时,学生在做推断作者观点类题目的时候,还要着重注意文章中的一些转折性词汇。例如,文章中可能在语句中体现however这样的转折性词汇,一旦发现这些词汇,学生就要提高警惕,判断是不是作者的观点要发生改变了。

学生在做判断细节的题目时,一定要注意文章中的关键词到底是哪些。在对判断选项中不符合原文意思的题目时,学生更应该瞪大眼睛,将选项中的语句与原文中的语句进行对比,找出不同的部分,判断两句话不同的部分是否具有相同的含义。这类题目的选项往往会设置很多错误的词汇,只是在原句的基础上修改一到两个词汇,这些词汇很有可能与原文想表达的意义相违背。

三、多读英语的文章,提高阅读能力的同时扩充词汇量

英语阅读理解类题目与语文的阅读理解题相似,都是考察学生的阅读能力和对文章的理解能力。因此,学生在学习高中英语的过程中,也需要经常读一些英语的文章或杂志,养成良好的阅读习惯,提高自己的阅读能力。高中英语老师可以在课堂教学之余,带领学生读一些美文美句,让学生能够从这些美文美句中体会到英语的独特魅力,让学生能够在英语阅读的过程中养成良好的英语阅读习惯,进而提高学生对英语文章的理解能力。

二、观点态度类题解题策略

策略一:不武断,不臆断

作者表达人物的情感、观点、意图既可能隐含在文章的字里行间,也可能流露于修饰的词语之中,考生应学会揣测和体会。在判断的过程中,应特别注意表达感情色彩的形容词,首段、尾段的中心思想,以及句子、段落间转折词的使用。千万不能主观臆断、凭空想象、随意揣测。在进行答案选择的时候一定要在行文中找到较为充分的信息支撑,不要把自己的态度夹杂其中,能正确区分是作者的态度还是作者引用别人的态度。

根据文章的主题,考生也可进行大方向的判断。故事类记叙文的目的通常是娱乐读者(to entertain);广告类应用文的目的一般是推销产品或服务(to persuade或to advertise );議论文的目的要阐述论点(to argue);科普、文化类说明文的目的大多是介绍知识,使大家广闻博见(to inform)。

策略二:真正“读懂”作者

要提高做此类题的正确率,一定要真正读懂作者,而不是只浮于表面。在这个过程中,我们要学会选择。抓全文,还是细节?是单词堆砌的字面意思还是蕴含意义?有时阅读理解材料很简单,但设题很具有迷惑性,考生正确率反而不高。其原因是:考生只从字面意义上解题,没有真正领悟其蕴含意义,从而无法避开选项设置上的一些陷阱。对于阅读材料简单的题,考生不能掉以轻心,要认真读懂文章,掌握其主要内容,这样才能正确解题。
